Alun Ffred Jones Campaigns for a better health service for the people of Arfon
Plans to relocate the Heulwen ward from Ysbyty Gwynedd to Llangefni are causing concern. This is the unit where elderly people are assessed to determine the most suitable treatment. Two who are opposing this are John and Elina Owen, Bethesda. As a minister, the Rev John Owen often visits patients at Heulwen.
“This plan would make things awfully difficult for people in Arfon and Pen Llyn — it’s hard enough for them to get to Bangor let alone Llangefni if they rely on buses and so on,” he says.
Alun Ffred Jones said:
This is obviously an ill-thought-out recommendation by health administrators and I will be doing my best to persuade them to reconsider.
Ward for Elderly must stay in Bangor.
A good health service costs money. But nothing like the billions our ratepayers are paying for the Iraq war , and that Blair and Brown will expect us to pay for the nuclear replacement for Trident.
REPORT ON CWELLYN WATER SCARE DUE OUT
Alun Ffred was busy early this year trying to get to the root of the cryptosporidium scare at Llyn Cwellyn reservoir. As we go to press the report of the enquiry is about to be published. The water quality is already improved after Dwr Cymru installed Ultraviolet equipment at the lake.
