Jobs for Bangor & Ogwen

WIGLEY BACKS STATION DEVELOPMENT

Plans to improve bus connections and parking at Bangor station have been given the thumbs up by Plaid list candidate Dafydd Wigley.

Alun Ffred Jones said:

I am very proud that these plans were developed when I was leader of Gwynedd Council. Improving North South links – the A470, and faster trains is one of Plaid Cymru’s priorities.

‘PEOPLE’S UNIVERSITY’ COULD HELP CREATE JOBS IN BANGOR

The development of a ‘Discovery Centre’ based at Bangor Public Library should help to boost the economic as well as the cultural life of the area, according to Alun Ffred Jones.

He said:

The cooperation between Gwynedd Council and the University in this venture opens up exciting possibilities. I welcome the plan to include an education and information centre accessible to all. This could develop into a ‘People’s University’, rooted in the local community, helping to generate high quality jobs.

As a past student at the University I wish the venture well and will do all I can to ensure its success.

RATES CRIPPLING SMALL BUSINESSES

Mrs Pat Hamilton, who runs a café in Bethesda, has been telling Alun Ffred Jones of her worries about the new business rate. Her cafe, Blas ar Grystyn, is one of around 400 small businesses in Gwynedd who could lose out due to changes made by the Labour Assembly Government in the rate relief scheme. The total loss to Arfon businesses is likely to be nearly £1 million.

Alun Ffred Jones said:

I’m afraid this is another example of how Labour in Cardiff are totally out of touch with places like Ogwen and Bangor.
